Just talked to a FedEx Ground delivery driver, delivering a package that was about a week overdue.

He says the Omak location is nearly caught up on their delivery backlog. The expected date that they'll be back to normal is after this weekend.

There are still delivery delays happening in the Methow Valley for FedEx Ground packages. It appears that they either have not caught up with their backlog, or the delivery driver issues are still not resolved.

One of my newly sent packages has missed a couple scheduled delivery days this week, and is now scheduled for delivery next week.

Another person has reported that their package, sent with 2 day service, is already 8 days late. It is also re-scheduled for delivery next week.

It seems that FedEx may not have been successful in getting all holiday packages delivered to valley residents before Christmas Day.

One of my packages had been scheduled for delivery by Dec 21st. It had only just got to Omak on the morning of the 22nd though. No problem: that should have been plenty of time to travel the remaining 40 miles or so. However, there was a "delivery exception" generated for that day, as well as on the 23rd and 24th, the last two remaining days before Christmas.

Perhaps I can expect my package to show up before the end of the year.

It appears that FedEx is now managing to make at least some deliveries in the Methow valley. One of my packages was delivered today, only a day late.

I've heard from a few others that their packages coming via FedEx are also trickling in.

UPDATE: When a FedEx spokesman was asked how FedEx was going to ensure that people living in the Methow valley area get their holiday package deliveries, he replied:

FedEx Ground sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused by a temporary service delay in the area and appreciates our customers’ patience as we implement contingencies, including securing additional delivery resources, to restore service levels as soon as possible. We are committed to meeting the ongoing holiday delivery needs of customers in the area and encourage anyone with questions about their shipments to check back periodically with customer service through www.fedex.com for status updates.

Local FedEx delivery drivers apparently have not been paid in a good while, so they are now on strike until they are paid. A driver informed a local package recipient that the last delivery day was Friday, the 26th, until the payment issues are resolved.

Methow valley FedEx routes seem to be handled via a third-party contractor. And it is this contractor that has allegedly not paid its delivery drivers.

FedEx routes for the main part of the county around Omak and Okanogan are apparently directly handled by FedEx. At this time, it is unknown if other delivery routes in the county are affected, under the same contractor.

A local person with a FedEx package in transit to the Methow, has seen the tracking information show that their expected package turned around and went back to Seattle.

If you are a local FedEx driver, or know any further info, please comment here, or send a message via the Tips/Contact option on the top menu.
