Verizon and Centurylink nearly totally down - 9/22

Update: Verizon cell service appeared to be restored just after 5:15pm.


It appears that Verizon cellular service has been completely down for at least an hour, starting sometime between 3:30pm and 4pm, with mobile phones displaying no signal and saying "No Service" or sometimes "Emergency calls only".

Sprint/Tmobile service appears to still be working, but has changed to "Extended Coverage".

Further, it appears that Centurylink long-distance is also down, with attempted calls out of the area getting a busy signal. Local calls in the same prefix seem to be ok, however calls between prefixes (996 to 997 or vice versa) seem to not go through at this time.

These symptoms likely indicate a fiber cut somewhere, even as far away as Spokane.
